Quantitative Awareness
Feb 19, 2024"Confidence doesn't come from reciting affirmations in the mirror - it comes from an undeniable stack of proof that we are who we say we are." - Alex Hormozi
I had a powerful coaching session with a professional athlete who was struggling with confidence.
They felt distant from their experience and all the preparation they had put in (this is normal by the way).
So, we grabbed a piece of paper and started calculating:
- The number of minutes they played
- The number of shots made
- The number of years playing compared to their age (which was more than 75% of their life!)
The intention was to bring quantitative awareness to the fact that they had put in the reps and had the experience to back it up.
As coaches, our job is to help our clients see the facts that they may be overlooking. By shining a light on their accomplishments and experience, we can help them build an undeniable stack of evidence that they are capable, skilled, and ready to take on any challenge.
This has become one of my favorite reframe exercises for the inevitable bouts of doubt that plague us all. You can run this same exercise for a coach, speaker, facilitator, teacher, etc. It's important that we count our reps.
Building confidence is a big thing we do in Authentic Business Mapping. If you're a coach or service-based business, our next 4-month cohort starts up May 1st! Shoot me a DM and let's find a time to connect.
