How do I set referral fees/agreements?

Prompt: Let’s say I have an agreement with a coach on my bench where they pay me a referral fee when I send them business. I get them a client with a company. Then they get a referral from said client to another client within the same company. Do you think I should get a referral fee for the new client?
Answer: My take, no. Reason being that they created their own referral absent and independent of you.
It rewards them for doing good work. And that coach doing deeper work within that organization reflects positively on your brand.
It also becomes a lot to track if there are multiple chains to referrals
Reminder: Someone who sends consistent referrals is an asset to your business! It is easy to take the connectors in our lives for granted - but everytime they send you an email connecting you to someone in their world and tee-ing you up for success... there is emotional labor involved. Consider offering a small kick-back fee to folks that pass you business as a thank you! Even ordering their favorite coffee can go a long way.
