Client Enrollment Process

I've been learning and musing A LOT about sales... Here's what I'm learning:

The key to building strong client relationships lies in shared leadership from the very beginning.

When new clients approach us, they often look to us as experts, expecting us to take the lead. However, the true partnership emerges when we invite them into the leadership process from day one.

As service providers, it's our responsibility to create a structure that respects both parties' time and energy while fostering a sense of shared ownership. This approach sets the foundation for a powerful, intentional relationship that goes beyond the typical client-expert dynamic.

Here are some ways to cultivate shared leadership with new clients from the start:

  • Clearly communicate the process and expectations from the first conversation
  • Ask for client input on goals and priorities
  • Encourage the client to take an active role in decision-making
  • Respect the client's expertise in their own life and experiencesCreate opportunities for the client to lead parts of the conversation

True partnership isn't about having all the answers (a practice I will never perfect) – it's about creating a collaborative space where both parties contribute to the growth journey.

By inviting clients into leadership early, you set the stage for more meaningful, impactful, and lasting transformations.

Relationships. Relationships. Relationships.
